We reviewed the new ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 (GA401Q) way back in June 2021. This is a 14-inch laptop that offers portability without sacrificing overall performance.

Riding on the success of the G14, ASUS went ahead and collaborated with DJ Alan Walker, to launch the new ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 Alan Walker Edition.

So what’s so special about the G14 Alan Walker Edition? Well, for starters, it comes with blue colour accents, and subtle shades of grey to give the G14 Alan Walker Edition an electro/cyberpunk look. ASUS also created four brand new animations for the 1,215 mini-LED AniMe Matrix on the lid of the laptop, in Spectre Blue colour.

The 2021 G14 Alan Walker Edition has a new nameplate, two fabric belts, one of which reflects light in the dark and a very stylish keycap design with 3 colours. The bootup animation shows the Alan Walker logo with a customised sound effect, created by the artist himself.

Even the packaging of the G14 Alan Walker Edition is unique. It is made of acrylic, coated with special conductive ink, and it comes with an exclusive feature built-in: the ROG REMIX, which is a hands-on DJ experience. It comes alive as soon as it is connected to the laptop via the USB-C port, using the bundled cable.

Using the ROG Remix software, you can touch the conductive areas of the laptop box, to trigger up to 18 different effects and short animated clips created by Alan Walker. The G14 Alan Walker Edition is also bundled with a custom ROG Alan Walker laptop sleeve, baseball cap, and socks, created by the ROG Slash design team and Alan Walker.

Under the hood, the G14 Alan Walker Edition is powered by an AMD Ryzen 9 5900HS processor, running at a clock speed of 3.30GHz. For graphics, you get Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050Ti. It also comes with 16GB of DDR4 3200MHZ memory and 1TB of SSD storage.

Ports on the laptop include one USB3.2 Gen2 Type-C, one DisplayPort 1.4, one USB3.2 Gen2 Type-C, two USB3.2 Gen1 Type-A, one HDMI 2.0b, one audio combo jack, and one Kensington Lock. You also get two 2.5W speakers with Smart AMP technology and two 0.7W tweeters.

In terms of performance, the G14 Alan Walker Edition is a powerhouse, considering the specs it accompanies. ASUS Remix is a welcome addition, something EDM aficionados will appreciate. Gaming sessions worked out really well, too. We did not find any lags or stutters while gaming. Even tasks such as video rendering were a walk in the park as the Zephyrus G14 Alan Walker Edition was able to handle everything we threw at it with aplomb.

The touchpad and the keyboard were both great. The Trackpad is a good size and very easy to press. The keys are clicky with decent travel, without being loud enough to annoy those seated around you.

At the end of the day, the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 Alan Walker Edition can handle all the multitasking you need it to, and in style! It comes with a great keyboard, touchpad, battery life, and overall performance, and the signature Alan Walker touches throughout.
