BenQ’s new GW2780T Eye-Care Monitor is a 27-inch version of the company’s popular predecessor GW2480T 24-inch monitor. This monitor features BenQ’s latest eye-care technologies and height-adjustable stand. The company also recently launched the new Monitor Light ScreenBar, which was sent to us along with the GW2780T for review.

The Monitor Light ScreenBar is an intelligent clip-on monitor light that comes packed with advanced sensors and dimmable features designed for the user’s viewing comfort. This ScreenBar comes with auto-dimming and hue adjustment features. The ScreenBar is USB powered and comes packed in a Matte Black body.

The ScreenBar can clip onto most monitors and offers zero reflective glare off the screen. Since it directly gets clipped onto the top of the monitor, no dedicated desk space is required. The device offers 500 lux illuminance of the desk surface and you can adjust the colour temperature between 270K and 6500K ANSI White 8 quadrangles colour standards.

Since the ScreenBar is also USB-powered, you do not need a dedicated power supply for it. You can easily power it up by connecting to your computer, your monitor, phone charger or even a power bank. Since the ScreenBar is made using aluminium alloy, quality seems top notch.

Now, let’s get back to the GW2780T.

Inside the box, you get the 27-inch panel along with the stand and the circular stand base. Putting the monitor together is effortless. All you need to do is to attach the base on the monitor’s neck. Next, tighten the screw by hand and the monitor is ready for use. The circular compartment with rubber knobs at the bottom of the monitor allows the base (and the monitor) to swivel horizontally and smoothly.

The monitor offers Full HD resolution of 1080p and comes packed in a Wide Viewing Angle IPS Panel that offers an edge to edge slim bezel design. In terms of connectivity, you get a DisplayPort (v1.2), an HDMI (v1.4) port, a D-Sub port, an audio in and an audio-out jack.

In terms of swivel and height adjustment, the GW2780T can be rotated vertically up to 90-degrees and tilt by 35 degrees and -5 degrees. You can also adjust the height by 140mm.

The monitor also comes with BenQ’s Brightness Intelligence Technology which uses a light sensor to detect ambient light and the brightness and contrast of screen content. Then, it adapts brightness and enhances dark areas on your display without overexposing bright regions.

The GW2780T also accompanies Low Blue Light Technology, which filters out harmful blue light for both good sleep quality and eye health. The panel offers 250 nits of brightness, a response time of 5ms, and an aspect ratio of 16:9. You also get two 2W built-in speakers which are OK for day to day computing jobs.

The menu and the operation buttons are all located at the bottom right-hand edge of the screen. In terms of picture quality, the GW2780T truly delivers. The BenQ GW2780T might look and feel like any other monitor on the market. However, it stands out from the crowd with its outstanding features that are designed with comfort for your eyes and posture in mind.

Price: AED 650 (GW2780T), AED 399 (ScreenBar)
