STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) toys are gaining popularity. And rightly so. According to a recent market study, the educational toys market will grow by $964.09 million, progressing at a CAGR of 5% from 2020 to 2025.

A few years ago, we reviewed the Misa Social Robot and today, we have the Miko 3 Personal AI Robot, specifically aimed at kids. STEM toys, according to industry experts, are aimed at improving cognitive skills, enhancing creative thinking and imagination, improving fine and gross motor skills, and building interpersonal skills.

So, does the Miko 3 stand up to the expectation? Well, read on, to find out.

The Miko 3 Robot brings fun and learning together. It is powered by artificial intelligence and has been designed for kids aged between 5 and 10 years old. The company’s technology that has been built into the Miko 3 robot, allows it to interact with humans, detect emotions, and even adapt its own behaviour based on its learnings. So the longer you play with it, the more it learns and adapts to various activities.

In terms of dimensions, the Miko 3 measures 6.3 L X 5.5 W X 8.67 H inches. Out of the box, the Miko 3 weighs around 907 grams. The Miko 3 uses a 4.46-inches multi-touch screen for its face. The display offers an aspect ratio of 16:9. The screen has a landscape orientation with a 1280-by-720 resolution.

On top of the screen or its face is where you will find a wide-angle HD camera, which allows you to make video calls. The Miko 3 also comes with 32GB built-in storage, which can be further expanded through an SD card.

In order to start using the Miko 3, first download the Miko app onto your smartphone and then connect the robot to your WiFi network. Next, follow the onscreen instruction to set it up. Once it is set up, you get access to lots of games and educational content.

In order to interact with Miko 3, say ‘Hello Miko’, and then ask your question or ask it to perform a task, such as a dance session. Other activity options supported by the Miko 3 include telling a joke, solving math or spelling problems, and even singing a song.

Inside the box, Miko 3 also accompanies a USB to USB-C charging cable. This can be used to charge the Miko 3. On a single charge, the Miko 3 offers 5 hours of battery life during active gameplay and up to 12 hours of battery life in standby mode.

The Miko 3 robot comes packed with lots of educational content. One of the stand-out content packages is the Explore the Knowledge World app, which offers a play-based learning experience. You can even visit Miko 3’s Game Hub for stories, quizzes, animal sounds, and more.

Miko 3 is available in two different colour options – Pixie Blue and Martian Red. For this review, the company sent us the blue variant. Miko 3 also supports a wide range of languages. It can interact, tell stories, and play games in eight different languages such as English, Spanish (Europe), Spanish (Latin America), Chinese, Italian, German, French, and Arabic.

When it comes to toys that are connected to the internet, one of the key challenges is data security. According to the makers of Miko 3, that is the last thing you should worry about since your data is encrypted end-to-end. The company also claims that your data is not stored on the company’s server or cloud, and hence, you have full control over your data.

Miko 3 also gets updated once every 15 days with fresh content. While most content is available without any additional charges, there’s a Miko Max subscription available for unlimited premium kids’ content at the price of $99 for a full year.

During our review period, Miko 3 performed really well. It was able to answer most of the questions thrown at it, and it also was able to perform most tasks with ease. The educational content package that is included with the Miko 3 without any additional charge was also pretty good.

The Miko 3 robot is a perfect AI-based companion for your kids to learn and play and experience the power of STEM-based learning. In addition, the company’s regular updates every 15 days make sure your Miko 3 is always up to date with fresh content to keep you and your kids engaged!
