ViewSonic’s new VG2440V is perfect for those working from home and for students continuing their studies through online platforms. This is because this monitor comes with a built-in Full HD web camera and a microphone. The VG2440V is a 24-inch Full HD video conferencing monitor that offers the capability of video conferencing and live-streaming out of the box.
As mentioned earlier, the monitor comes with a built-in 2MP FHD webcam that can be adjusted to better frame the user during video conference calls and create engaging content through varied camera angles. For better privacy and security, the camera also has a cover slide to cover it when not in use. The monitor offers an aspect ratio of 16:9, a response time of 5ms (GTG), and a refresh rate of 6000Hz.
The build quality of the monitor is solid, while the design is quite good, too. The monitor offers ergonomic flexibility – it can tilt up to 40 degrees, swivel up to 120 degrees, be raised up to a 130mm viewing angle, and pivot 90 degrees for portrait viewing – thus suiting your setup and workflow. You also get adjustable vertical angles of the webcam up to 5 degrees both ways. The monitor comes with dual front-facing speakers thus ensuring you can hear and be heard with absolute clarity.
The VG2440V also comes with Advance Eye-Care technology which works to eliminate eye strain and fatigue after long periods thanks to Flicker-Free technology and a Blue Light Filter. You also get SuperClear IPS panel technology that offers the same image quality, irrespective of your viewing angle. You also get vivid colours and consistent brightness throughout.
The monitor offers a standard brightness output of 250 nits and has a contrast ratio of 1000:1. ViewSonic also throws in its vDisplay Manager productivity suite, which provides effective OSD commands. You can have split-screen displays, auto-launch applications, and customise display settings to maximise multi-tasking abilities.
The monitor is also compatible for use with a client mount kit that lets you mount a mini PC behind the monitor to save up desk space. The client mount kit, which is sold separately, lets you keep your desk clean and clutter-free.
Assembling the monitor is effortless and toolless. Just screw the base to the quick release stand, snap the stand into place using the slots, and lift the fully-assembled display out of the box. In terms of connectivity, you get 1 VGA port, 1 HDMI 1.4, 1 DisplayPort, 3 USB 3.2 Type-A Down Stream (monitor to peripherals), and 1 USB 3.2 Type B Up Stream (monitor to PC). Most new monitors on the market now come with a USB Type C (Thunderbolt certified) port. However, this port is missing on the VG2440V, even though the monitor is made for a work-from-home scenario.
The image quality offered by the ViewSonic VG2440V is quite good. We used the monitor for a week during online classes and we found the overall experience to be very good. The monitor offered vibrant colours and very good brightness throughout our testing period. The built-in web camera and microphone performed really well. The webcam was crisp, while the microphone picked up voices efficiently. The built-in front-facing speakers were also loud enough for a distraction-free online learning experience.
The ViewSonic VG2440V is competitively priced at $255, translating to about AED 940. Considering the LED IPS panel, the crisp and vibrant images, the built-in webcam, and the very good microphone and speakers, the ViewSonic VG2440V comes across as a value for money display for WFH setups.
